How to use

Present this card at any 7-Eleven store in Australia to obtain goods and or services up to the value available on the card. For goods or services over that value you will be required to make up the difference with another form of accepted payment.

Conditions of Use

The holder of this 7-Eleven Gift Card can obtain goods or services (including applicable GST) to the value loaded on the card. The Gift Card can be used only at a 7-Eleven store in Australia and cannot be exchanged for cash. 7-Eleven will not be liable for any lost or stolen Gift Cards or any value loaded on a Gift Card that has been lost or stolen. This Gift Card expires 36 months from the date of issue and can only be redeemed at a 7-Eleven store in Australia. You can convert this card to a re-loadable facility by registering the card on the website. Different terms and conditions will apply.  Any value that has not been used at expiry can no longer be used and becomes our property.  Important If we reasonably suspect fraud or illegality, we reserve the right to place a hold on Gift Card value and prevent it being used.

7-Eleven Gift Card Terms & Conditions

1. Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all 7-Eleven Gift Cards and were updated as at 29 October 2019.

1.1.  By purchasing, activating, using, or attempting to use a 7-Eleven Gift Card you agree to comply with these terms and conditions. This includes making an enquiry or exercising and right to redeem value loaded on a 7-Eleven Gift Card.

1.2. By purchasing, activating, using or attempting to use a 7-Eleven Gift Card, or by making a transaction enquiry or exercising any right to redeem value loaded onto a 7-Eleven Gift Card, you warrant that you will comply with these terms and conditions and all applicable laws and that the 7-Eleven Gift Card will not be used in a manner that is unlawful, misleading, deceptive, unfair or otherwise harmful to consumers.  

1.3. If giving a 7-Eleven Gift Card to another person, you should ensure that he or she is aware of the terms and conditions of use that apply to the card as well as any relevant expiry date.

Definitions:

  • “7-Eleven Gift Card” means a Gift Card issued by 7-Eleven Stores Pty Ltd (A.C.N. 005 299 427) in Australia including eGift Cards
  • “eGift Cards” means any 7-Eleven Gift Card delivered by electronic means including but not exclusive to email, mobile application or website.   
  • “Activation” is a process whereby we activate or enable the card for use once you complete the purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card.  
  • “Card Balance” is the amount available for redemption on a card at any one time, being the initial balance less any value that has been redeemed or has expired. A card balance can be viewed on the proof of purchase provided at the time of purchase, each time the card is used to purchase goods and services at 7-Eleven or at any time on www.7eleven.com.au/giftcards    
  • “Card Number” is the number shown on a 7-Eleven Gift Card.
  • “Expiry Date” is the date at which 7-Eleven deactivates the card. See clause 5.
  • “Security Code” is a security number of the rear of the card that is used in conjunction with the card number when completing a purchase in a 7-Eleven store using the Gift Card to purchase goods or services.
  • “redeem” means to use some of all of the value on a 7-Eleven Gift Card to obtain goods or services in a 7-Eleven store.
  • “Website” means www.7eleven.com.au/7-Eleven-gift-cards
  • A reference to “we”, “us” or “our” is a reference to 7-Eleven Stores Pty Ltd
  • A reference to “you” or “your” is a reference to the person who is taken to agree to these terms and conditions under clauses 1.1 and 1.2.

2. Purchasing a 7-Eleven Gift Card

2.1. 7-Eleven Gift Cards can be purchased at selected 7-Eleven stores in Australia or at third party retailers approved by 7-Eleven.

2.2. Customers can load from $10 to a maximum of $150 available on request when purchasing a 7-Eleven Gift Card.

2.3. Activation occurs immediately at the time the purchase transaction is fully completed in-store. Prior to the purchase and activation, 7-Eleven Gift Cards hold no value.

2.4 7-Eleven eGift cards are available to purchase online at www.my7elevencard.com.au or on selected 7-Eleven Mobile Applications.  We may apply restrictions from time to time in relation to 7-Eleven eGift card purchase transactions, in order to manage the risk to us and to our customers including the risk of fraudulent use of credit cards. For example, we may reject online purchase transactions in our discretion based on the total number of eGift Cards purchased in a period, or on what we regard as unusual patterns of payment card usage. Payment cards with a non-Australian issuer cannot be used for online purchase transactions.

2.5. 7-Eleven may from time to time issue Promotional Gift Cards in conjunction with purchases. Promotional Gift cards may have earlier expiry dates than purchased 7-Eleven Gift Cards.

2.6. You are not required to pay GST on the value you use to purchase your 7-Eleven Gift Card. However, GST will be included in the value of any goods and services you obtain using a card.

3. Redeeming a 7-Eleven Gift Card

3.1. To redeem a 7-Eleven Gift Card in a 7-Eleven store take the products you wish to purchase along with your gift card to the counter. The operator will ask you to swipe your card and enter the Security Code on the reverse of the card.

3.2. To redeem a 7-Eleven eGift Card in a 7-Eleven store present the eGift Card either on a printed email or on your mobile phone. The operator will ask you to scan the barcode.

3.3. Although infrequently, there may be occasions on which 7-Eleven is unable (because of technical issues) to electronically process a transaction. In such cases, and subject to verification by store staff of the available balance, a manual voucher will be issued by 7-Eleven.

3.4. If we reasonably suspect fraud or illegality, we reserve the right to place a hold on Gift Card value and prevent it being used.  We can prevent Gift Card value being used where we reasonably believe that allowing the value to be used may cause harm to any person (including us or a 7-Eleven store). If we reasonably believe that value loaded to the Gift Card is the result of any fraud or illegality, we can cancel that value at any time without liability to the holder of the Gift Card.  We will consider in good faith any information from the holder of the card to show that the value has been loaded lawfully.

4. Privacy and Confidentiality

4.1. 7-Eleven adheres to the Australian Privacy Principles.

4.2. We will not disclose your personal information to anyone except for the strict purpose of verifying your identity and managing the 7-Eleven Gift Card    program, or as required by law.

4.3. Information may be disclosed, as a part of the management of the Gift Card program, to contractors or third party service providers who supply to us administrative services in connection with the Gift Card program or to the relevant government agency via the Document Verification Service for thepurposes of verifying your identity.  You can find more information about the Document Verification Service at www.dvs.gov.au

4.4. Some of our service providers operate in overseas locations (predominantly the United States of America, Canada and New Zealand) and we may  therefore need to transfer your information overseas in order to receive these service provider services.  Where we share your personal information with such entities, we will do so in compliance with Australian privacy laws and will take steps to ensure that such entities agree to similarly protect that information.

4.5. If we require details of your identity, and the details you provide us are not verified by the Document Verification Service, we may not be satisfied as to your identity and we may prevent you from purchasing a Gift Card or from using a Gift Card within our stores or through our website or online applications.

4.6. 7-Eleven, its contractors and or Third Party Service providers, will not share, sell or pass on your personal information to any party outside the program.

5. Expiry Date

5.1. Expiry dates can be found on the receipt or voucher when purchasing a Gift Card or when using eGift Card to purchase products in a 7-Eleven store.

5.2. The expiry date is 36 months from the date of issue.

5.3. A 7-Eleven Gift Card cannot be used after its expiry date.  Any Card Balance that has not been used (that is, redeemed) at expiry is reduced to zero and can no longer be used.  No refunds are provided for any unused Card Balance at expiry.

6. Fees and Charges

6.1. No fees or charges apply when purchasing a 7-Eleven Gift Card.

6.2. However, at 7-Eleven’s discretion, fees or charges may be incurred by you for the use of Credit, Eftpos or other forms of payment when purchasing a  7-Eleven Gift Card.

7. Resale

7.1. Resale of 7-Eleven Gift Cards is strictly prohibited, except with our prior written consent. If approved, Gift Cards cannot be re-sold for more than the original purchase price.

8 Cash Advances or Refunds

8.1. You cannot obtain any cash advance with your Gift Card or redeem your Gift Card for cash or cash like products.

8.2. You cannot exchange a Gift Card for any other form of tender, cash or discount or use it to redeem any other form of tender, cash or discount. For  example, you cannot exchange or redeem a gift card for any other form of gift card or payment product.

10. Liability

10.1. You are responsible for your 7-Eleven Gift Card, and are liable for all transactions made using your 7-Eleven Gift Card (whether by you or others).

11. Changes to Terms of Use

11.1. 7-Eleven reserves the right to change any of the terms contained in these Terms of Use at any time where the change is determined to be required.     

 This includes but is not limited to the following changes:

- places where the 7-Eleven Gift Card may be redeemed;

- to add or remove goods or services which may be purchased with the 7-Eleven Gift Card;

- to add or vary conditions for administrative or operational reasons or to prevent the occurrence of fraud or other unlawful or unacceptable conduct;

- to comply with any contract, law, regulation or statute or order or judgment of any court, tribunal or other body having competent jurisdiction; or

- where we, acting reasonably, consider that it will not be to your detriment.

Reloadable 7-Eleven Card Terms & Conditions

1. Terms and conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all reloadable 7-Eleven Cards and were updated as at 11 June 2020.

1.1. You can obtain a reloadable 7-Eleven Card by registering at the Website.  If you have a 7-Eleven Gift Card, you can use the Website to convert the 7-Eleven Gift Card to a reloadable 7-Eleven Card.  The Card Balance of the 7-Eleven Gift Card will be fully redeemed, and the same amount will be available as the Card Balance of a reloadable 7-Eleven Card, which is a different financial product to which these Terms and Conditions apply.

1.2. You may also be able to register on the Website for a reloadable 7-Eleven Card without previously having held a 7-Eleven Gift Card

1.3. By registering for, activating, reloading, using, or attempting to use a reloadable 7-Eleven Card you agree to comply with these terms and conditions. This includes making an enquiry or exercising and right to redeem value loaded on a reloadable 7-Eleven Card.

1.4. By registering for, activating, using or attempting to use a reloadable 7-Eleven Card, or by making a transaction enquiry or exercising any right to        redeem value loaded onto a reloadable 7-Eleven Card, you warrant that you will comply with these terms and conditions and all applicable laws and that the reloadable 7-Eleven Card will not be used in a manner that is unlawful, misleading, deceptive, unfair or otherwise harmful to consumers.

  • “eGift Cards” means any 7-Eleven Gift Card delivered by electronic means including but not exclusive to email, mobile application or website.   
  • “Activation” is a process whereby we activate or enable the card for use once you complete the registration for a reloadable 7-Eleven Card  
  • “Card Balance” is the amount available for redemption on a card at any one time. A card balance can be viewed on the proof of purchase provided at the time of purchase, each time value is added to the card, each time the card is used to purchase goods and services at 7-Eleven or at any time on www.7eleven.com.au/7-Eleven-gift-cards
  • “Card Number” is the number shown on a reloadable 7-Eleven Card
  • “Expiry Date” is the date at which 7-Eleven deactivates the card. See clause 6.
  • “redeem” means to use some of all of the value on a reloadable 7-Eleven Card to obtain goods and services in a 7-Eleven store.
  • “reload” Is the process of adding additional value to a reloadable 7-Eleven Card after the initial purchase of the card.  
  • “Security Code” is a security number on the rear of the card that is used in conjunction with the card number when completing a purchase in a 7-Eleven store using the reloadable 7-Eleven Card to purchase goods or Services.
  • “Website” means  www.7eleven.com.au/7-Eleven-gift-cards
  • A reference to “we”, “us” or “our” is a reference to 7-Eleven Stores Pty Ltd
  • A reference to “you” or “our” is a reference to the person who is taken to agree to these terms and conditions under clauses 2.4 and 2.5.

2. Establishing the reloadable 7-Eleven Card

2.1. The reloadable 7-Eleven Card is a financial product that we issue through the Website. You can obtain reloadable 7-Eleven Card product by registering on the Website and choosing to convert a 7-Eleven Gift Card to a reloadable 7-Eleven Card. We may allow a reloadable 7-Eleven Card to be established if you have not previously purchased a 7-Eleven Gift Card.

2.2. Activation occurs immediately upon registration where a 7-Eleven Gift Card is converted.  If you activate a reloadable 7-Eleven Card without value from a 7-Eleven Gift Card, the reloadable card may not be activated until we receive the first loading in cleared funds.

2.3. You are not required to pay GST on the value you use to reload your Card.  However, GST will be included in the value of any goods and services you  obtain using a card.

2.4. When you activate a reloadable 7-Eleven Card, you consent to us sending a copy of the current terms and conditions by email.

2.5. A registered customer will not be allowed to reload value to a reloadable 7-Eleven Card if, following the transaction, the total value of all reloadable 7-Eleven Cards registered to them would exceed a cumulative balance of $200.

2.6. As a registered customer, you will not be able to register a reloadable 7-Eleven Card to your account if this would mean that more than 3 reloadable 7-Eleven Cards are registered to your Account.

2.7. The reloadable 7-Eleven Card is not a deposit facility and is solely a payment product.  The holder of a reloadable 7-Eleven Card is able to use card value to obtain goods and services under clause 5, and has no other rights to use card value that are not expressly provided under these terms and conditions. In particular, there is no right to receive monetary value or cash in exchange for reloadable 7-Eleven Card value.

3. Reloading value to the reloadable 7-Eleven Card

3.1. Reloadable 7-Eleven Card value can be reloaded to the reloadable 7-Eleven Card by providing value to us in Australian currency at a 7-Eleven store.

3.2. Each reloadable 7-Eleven Card can carry a maximum value at any one time not exceeding $150.  A reload transaction will not be processed if it would cause this card limit to be exceeded, or if it would cause the $200 maximum balance for all cards registered to a registered customer to be exceeded.

3.3. The maximum amount of a single reload transaction is $80.  No more than 2 reload transactions are allowed per reloadable 7-Eleven Card per day and no more than 3 per week.

3.4. The maximum allowable reload total onto an account is $100 per day and $150 per week. 

3.5. We may apply additional restrictions from time to time in relation to reload transactions, in order to manage the risk to us and to our customers  including the risk of fraudulent use of credit cards. For example, we may reject reload transaction attempts in our discretion based on the total amount   loaded to a card or cards in a period, or on what we regard as unusual patterns of card usage. Cards with a non-Australian issuer cannot be used for   online reload transactions.

4. Redeeming a reloadable 7-Eleven Card

4.1. To redeem value from a reloadable 7-Eleven Card in a 7-Eleven store take the products you wish to purchase along with your card to the counter. The operator will ask you to swipe your card and enter the PIN number on the reverse of the card.

4.2. Although infrequently, there may be occasions on which 7-Eleven is unable (because of technical issues) to electronically process a transaction.  In such cases, and subject to verification by store staff of the available balance, a manual voucher will be issued by 7-Eleven

4.3. If we reasonably suspect fraud or illegality, we reserve the right to place a hold on reloadable 7-Eleven Card value and prevent it being used.  We can prevent reloadable 7-Eleven Card value being used where we reasonably believe that allowing the value to be used may cause harm to any person (including us or a 7-Eleven store).  If we reasonably believe that value loaded to the reloadable 7-Eleven Card is the result of any fraud or illegality, we can cancel that value at any time without liability to the holder of the reloadable 7-Eleven Card.  We will consider in good faith any information from the holder of the card to show that value has been loaded lawfully.

5.4. 6. Expiry Date

6.2. The expiry date is 36 months from the later of the date of issue or the last time the card was used to purchase goods and/or services.  Any changes to the expiry date will be printed on the 7-Eleven receipt or voucher each time the card is used.  Expiry dates can also be viewed by logging into your    registered account at www.7eleven.com.au/giftcards or by calling 7-Eleven Customer Service on 1800 247 711.

6.3. A reloadable 7-Eleven Card cannot be used after its expiry date.  Any Card Balance that has not been used (that is, redeemed) at expiry is reduced to zero and can no longer be used.  No refunds are provided for any unused Card Balance at expiry.

8. Resale

8.1. Resale of reloadable 7-Eleven Cards is strictly prohibited, except with our prior written consent. If approved, reloadable 7-Eleven Cards cannot be re-sold for more than the current Card Balance. The new holder must register at the Website for a sale to be effective and must agree to these Terms and Conditions.

9. Cash Advances or Refunds

9.1. You cannot obtain any cash advance with your reloadable 7-Eleven Card or redeem your card for cash or cash-like products.

9.2. You cannot exchange a reloadable 7-Eleven Card for any other form of tender, cash or discount or use it to redeem any other form of tender, cash or discount. For example, you cannot exchange or redeem a gift card for any other form of gift card or payment product.

10. Lost Damaged or Stolen Cards

10.1. Where 7-Eleven is notified of a card being lost or stolen and where the customer can identify themselves as the person in whose name the card is registered, we can, at our discretion, cancel the lost or stolen card, and transfer the remaining balance on the lost or stolen card to a new card.

10.2. We reserve the right to place a stop on your reloadable 7-Eleven Card if:

10.2.1. You report that your reloadable 7-Eleven Card has been lost or stolen or;

10.2.2. We believe (or reasonably suspect) that you have used your reloadable 7-Eleven Card (or will use) your reloadable 7-Eleven Card contrary to these Terms and Conditions.

Nothing in this clause 10.2 limits our rights under clause 4.3.

10.3. If we have placed a stop on your reloadable 7-Eleven Card, this can only affect the Card Balance at the time the stop becomes effective.  If any value has been redeemed before the stop becomes effective, that value may not be recovered by you.

10.4. You should treat your reloadable 7-Eleven Card like cash.  If any other person has access, they will be able to obtain goods and services up to the Card Balance and these transactions will not be able to be reversed.  If you believe that there has been a mistaken transaction using your reloadable 7-Eleven Card, you should raise your concern in the first instance with the 7-Eleven store where you believe the mistake occurred.  If they are unable to help, contact us under clause 11 and we will investigate the matter.  We usually will tell you the result of our investigation within 30 days, but this may be longer if we need additional information from you.
