Nearly 50 years after opening its first Australian store in Oakleigh, 7-Eleven has returned to the local community.
7-Eleven Australia Chief Executive Officer, Fiona Hayes, Chief Retail Officer, Marc Costabile, joined City of Monash Mayor Stuart James, Steve Dimopoulos MP, Sheena Watt MP as well as partners, customers and team members to officially open the store.
The event recognised the significance of the Oakleigh community in 7-Eleven Australia's history and paid tribute to the original store opening, including a display of historic photos taken at the Oakleigh opening in 1977 and an official ribbon cutting.
CEO Fiona Hayes said the opening was an opportunity to celebrate both the company's history and its future: "Oakleigh holds a special place in our history and it's wonderful to be back in the community where our journey began nearly 50 years ago," Fiona said.
“We’re proud to be woven into the daily lives of millions of Australians, and it all began right here in Oakleigh. The same spirit that brought 7-Eleven to Oakleigh nearly five decades ago continues to drive us today as we evolve alongside our customers and the communities we serve.”
The new Oakleigh store offers customers the 7-Eleven ‘foodvenience’ experience, with quality food and beverages, bringing convenience and a customer-focused experience.
The store will employ ten locals who will be at the heart of delivering the great service and experience that customers know and love.
This latest opening reflects 7-Eleven's ongoing ambition to be Australia's convenient neighbourhood store. While much has changed over the last 50 years, the connection between 7-Eleven and the Oakleigh community remains an important part of 7-Eleven’s story.
The store is located at 7a Portman St, Oakleigh.
