21 August 2020

Five new employees will be joining store manager Guru Borra to provide Maidstone locals with food, fuel, coffee and essentials when 7-Eleven Maidstone opens at 12 Hampstead Road on August 21.

Mr Borra, who will be leading a total team of nine, said a number of the applicants were starting careers in retail due to the impact of COVID-19 on other industries.

“We had a lot of people apply to join our team and the quality of the candidates was excellent. Some are joining from other petrol and convenience retailers but there are a few team members who were working in hospitality or other areas. I am really excited to help my team settle into the new store and their new roles as we work together to offer our customers excellent service and value,” Mr Borra said.

“For now, we are looking forward to delighting our new customers when they are out for their essential supplies or on their daily outdoor exercise. When restrictions change and people are back into their routines, we’re looking forward to getting to know the community better.”

The new store will provide a range of convenient products and services. Shoppers will be able to grab their favourite products and fill up at any time as the store will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It will feature a full range of fresh food and convenience options including; 7-Eleven’s handmade sandwiches, wraps and Krispy Kreme doughnuts which are delivered fresh every day, as well as 7-Eleven’s $1 freshly ground coffee, and Slurpee including Slurpee Low Sugar options.

The store will have the full range of Mobil fuel. Mobil brand fuels are engineered to work harder and improve fuel economy for the consumer. Fuels on offer include Supreme 98, Extra 95, Special E10, Special Unleaded 91 and Special Diesel.

According to 7-Eleven Victorian State Manager, Marc Costabile, the store is designed provide additional services to meet the needs of local customers.

“The services in the new store include 7-Eleven ParcelMate. This service allows customers to send parcels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 7-Eleven ParcelMate’s service provides customers with convenient, reliable, good value options to post parcels in Australia. Just pop your item in the right size satchel, and pay the relevant flat rate at when you drop off your parcel,” Mr Costabile said.

The company’s ongoing growth is providing opportunities for team members to build careers in both the corporate and franchised networks.

“Most of our new build stores open as corporate stores, providing internal opportunities for our corporate store team to progress in their careers. As a leader, watching your team members take advantage of the career opportunities created from their hard work and talent is incredibly rewarding,” Mr Costabile said.

Growth in the 7-Eleven network has strong, with approximately 30 stores opening each year nationally.

“It’s important to us that we continue to build a network of stores in convenient local areas that fulfil the needs of our customers,” Mr Costabile concluded.
