7-Eleven Encouraged by Response to New Wage Repayment Program

7-Eleven said it was encouraged by the early response to its streamlined Wage Repayment Program.
The total number of wage repayment claims submitted stands at 3,895 (as at 31 May 2016). 192 claims have been lodged in the three weeks since 7-Eleven’s decision to assume responsibility for the repayment process. Over the same period, only two (2) claims have been withdrawn.
The 7-Eleven Wage Repayment Program will finalise its first round of claims assessments over the coming days, and will publicly report progress, consistent with its stated commitments.
To provide further transparency, 7-Eleven has today shared the Values and Design Principles that govern the Wage Repayment Program. The Terms of Reference of the Independent Secretariat, managed by Deloitte, have also been shared on the Program website.
7-Eleven has invited the Fair Work Ombudsman to review the Values and Design Principles, along with any other aspect of the Program, as part of its ongoing liaison with the regulator.
7-Eleven CEO Angus McKay said “7-Eleven took the Wage Repayment Program process in-house in order to deliver a robust and efficient process that puts money in the hands of aggrieved franchisee staff as quickly as possible.
“While we understand that confidence in the Program will ultimately rest on outcomes, not principles and intentions, we are very encouraged by the fact that a significant number of new claims continue to be submitted.
“Our focus now is on maintaining trust with new and existing claimants, by accelerating the assessment of their claims and the payment of entitlements.
“As I have said previously, we are happy to be judged on our actions, and will continue to publicly report our progress as we move forward” Mr McKay concluded.
